I first met with Alex earlier last year when we caught up for a coffee in the city one afternoon, we chatted for ages and I instantly felt so relaxed with her and we got on like a house on fire! Their wedding was on the last weekend before Christmas last year and the day came up really quickly! I caught up with them both just before the wedding and I can honestly say we shared a few laughs and had a great time, to say I was excited about their day was an understatement!
Their day was finally here and both Alex and Stewart chose to get ready in accommodation in Hahndorf so it was very close together, the boys hung out in this cute cottage and we took advantage of the surrounding areas for their photos. Alex and his mates are country people at heart and they are also car lovers so it was only fitting that we used these in some photos as they were also used as the wedding cars. Then over at the girls it was a hive of activity, lots of laughs and chatter and Alex was just finishing having her make-up done when Kim and I arrived. Once the girls were ready and we finished some formal photos, dad suggested we head over to the pub for a drink – and a shot or two, Alex shook her head and laughed and had other ideas and I don’t think a shot was on the cards!!
Then it was over to Bird In Hand Winery for their ceremony and reception to follow. I do love this location, its quite a little gem hidden away down south. The ceremony was conducted by none other than Dorinda Hafner, and knowing this couple I knew she was the right fit for them, she had us all in stitches throughout the ceremony and these guys revelled in it! I have to say she was totally fabulous and larger than life and it was a joy to watch them be married!!
After some location photography within Bird In Hand, we then headed over the road to a private air strip to have some images taken with Stewarts plane. Yep you read right, both Stewart and his father are Pilots so it was important to capture this family tradition for them.
Kim and I stayed until the first dance, where people kicked off their shoes and danced the night away, it was a beautiful night with heartfelt speeches and plenty of laughs!!
Oh and did I mention the desert table – yep sometimes I get to leave the reception with a tummy full of dinner and cakes and if I’m lucky, a take away bag for the drive home, it was delish!!
So, here are some of my favourites from their day, just about every image we took both Alex and Stewarts faces told a 1000 stories, lots of smiles and fun times! An overcast day and slight drizzle at times did not keep these two from enjoying their day and having the time of their lives.
Alex and Stewart, thank you for trusting in me to capture your day, both Kim and I had a wonderful time with you and your bridal party & guests! I think its fair to say we haven’t laughed and smiled so much on a wedding day, your love for each other and happiness is just infectious!! I can’t wait for your wedding album and prints to come in and to catch up with you very soon. All the best for your married life together, love Bree & Kim xo

I have known Aroha & Derrick for a few years now, we met through mutual friends and I think what first hit me the most was how beautiful and mature Aroha is from the inside out at such a young age. Aroha is one of the nicest most sweetest girls you will ever meet, forever going out of her way to help others and always there for her friends and family.
When I found out that Aroha & Derrick were engaged I was so excited for them both, I was secretly hoping I could photograph them at this time to celebrate the milestone and of course, we did. On a beautiful afternoon we drove into the Barossa Valley and visited the Lyndoch Lavender Farm for an afternoon of fun and laughter. You can see their engagement session HERE.
Needless to say that when the planning started to happen for their wedding day, I patiently waited in the hope that they would ask me to be their photographer, and of course, they did. I was so excited and over the moon happy to be sharing in their special day.
Fast forward many months of planning and Facebook updates of important milestones in their planning process and it was finally 2014, the year they were to be married. Their date was set for November 8th and the venue chosen was the gorgeous grounds of Carrick Hill.
This was until I heard the news that Derrick’s mum was diagnosed with cancer and given months to live. Aroha & Derrick made the decision to bring their wedding forward to the 16th February in the hope that they could share their special day with all their family, including Derrick’s mum. Everyone was behind them, friends and family with their love and support and wedding vendors like myself, who would fly to the moon and back to make sure they had the most amazing day ever.
In the week leading up to their special day, Derrick’s mum became very unwell and with much sadness, was unable to attend the wedding. In true spirit she did not want Aroha and Derrick to miss out on their special day and so with much strength and support their day went ahead as planned.
When Aroha & Derrick decided to change their wedding date, I was unavailable to photograph the wedding, I was devastated to say the least. I called upon two of my colleagues to step in and photograph their day for me and within half an hour of their date changing, I had secured and locked in their wedding. Something I am working on behind the scenes and something that has already been happening for quite a while, is the opportunity for couples to have their wedding photographed by Life In Still Photography, even when I am booked or unavailable to photograph it. I have a team of colleagues who I have been working with for over 2 years now, who have helped support and encourage me to really concentrate on the one genre of photography that I just love, wedding photography.
Something I have been offering clients for some time now, is the opportunity to have their wedding photographed by one of the Life In Still Photography team. This has been a dream of mine since I first started photographing weddings, I don’t plan on taking over the world but merely allowing more couples the opportunity have Life In Still Photography there to capture and tell the perfect story of their day. By the time this season ends, the Life In Still Photography team will have photographed, whether by me or one of the team, 26 weddings and we think that’s something to celebrate!
This brings me back to Aroha and Derrick, although I was unable to be there to capture their day, my team stepped in and carried on the day for the Life In Still Photography team. From all accounts it was an amazing day, there were laughs, tears, long hugs of support and of course some amazing moments were captured, I couldn’t be more prouder of all involved to make this day happen for them.
Thank you Aroha and Derrick for being so open, kind and caring and for trusting in me to make sure your day was captured just as the story unfolded, I have decided to share some of my favourite images of the two of you and hope this brings many smiles and tears of happiness from your day.
Much love always, Bree xo
Aroha’s stunning bouquet of flowers was from Sam at Fabulous Functions, her work is amazing and someone I highly recommend to all of my clients.
I have no idea where to start with Lisa and Leigh, I chatted with them earlier last year when they contacted me saying they lived in Sydney and were planning a beautiful relaxed wedding in the Barossa. A few details were noted and from the way Lisa had written their enquiry I just new I wanted to be a part of their day!
Kind-hearted, genuine people is what comes to mind when I think of these two, and the first time I met with them was to photograph their engagement session on a private property in the Barossa. It was grand final day last year and Leigh was fairly eager to ‘get on with the session’ so he could tune in to the scores. Once we got started and I showed them a few moves they both relaxed and got into it and by the end of the session Leigh was telling me ideas for shots, which was great to see!!
Lisa and Leigh chose to marry at Hentley Farm Wines, Leigh actually works for Hentley Farm for the eastern states so it was only natural he chose there and it’s such a beautiful location too! Then it was over to Maggie Beers new reception venue called ‘The Farm’ and it was nothing short of amazing!!
The day started out with the boys for a few shots back at Leigh’s parents home in the Barossa, then it was over to the girls who were staying in one of the Stonewell Cottages in the Barossa.
Here are just a few of my favourite images to tell the story of their day…
Lisa and Leigh, words cannot describe how beautiful and relaxed your day was, you are both such loving and caring people and this really shows in your gallery of images. I am so thankful to be a wedding photographer, because I get to meet people like you and be constantly reminded that I love what I do!
All the very best for the years ahead,

I first met with Kerri & her mum about 7 months before their wedding day, we instantly hit it off and spent way too much time chatting, but I left that first meeting hoping that Kerri would book with me and after chatting with Zed over the phone that night, Kerri promptly contacted me and asked if I would capture their day – I was delighted!
After getting to know Kerri and eventually Zed they decided to have an engagement session, we spent a wonderful afternoon in the Barossa at the Lyndoch Lavender farm and I can honestly say I haven’t laughed to much at a session before! These two are just so cute together and such kind-hearted, loving people and we had a ball that day.
So their day finally came around and I was excited to get going , first over with Zed and his brothers who were getting ready at Kerri’s parents place (Zed’s family are all from Melbourne) and then it was time to head over to Kerri & Zed’s home where Kerri and the girls were just having the finishing touches to their make-up (by the wonderful Karen Hedger!) we had some laughs, checked the weather and of course got ready to go!
With an overcast sky, Kerri & Zed were married on the laws at Saltram Wines in the Barossa Valley, and you could not wipe the smiles off their faces. Their happy outlook on life is infectious and after meeting both sides of their family its not hard to see why!
Once the ceremony was finished we walked around the grounds of Saltrams and then across the road for some beautiful location shots, these guys were very relaxed in front of the camera, one look at each other and their faces were beaming with smiles!!
Then it was on to the reception, where they entered to their guests cheering and clapping and enjoyed a night of celebration and fun!
Here are some of my favourite moments from their day…
Kerri & Zed, thank you so much for having me along to capture your wedding day, I loved every moment of your day and to see how much you both smiled at one another just proved to me how much I love what I do!!
Wishing you all the very best for your future lives together

I first chatted with Sally back in April this year, she was planning her wedding for September of this year and was trying to put together the final pieces to her wedding day, this included the photography for her wedding day. As we got chatting I just knew that I wanted to be the one to photograph her wedding, we share many interests and chatted for ages both on the phone and in person. When Sally mentioned she had chosen Kingsbrook Estate as the wedding venue I immediately squealed inside. Kingsbrook Estate is one of my favourite places to photograph at, the grounds are just beautiful and the opportunities are endless!
Sally and Mark booked their date and booked in with me immediately and I was so thrilled that they did. Sally and I chatted quite a few times leading up to her wedding day, all the little details she shared with me along the way and I was so thankful she did, it was certainly going to be a beautiful day!
So on the 13th September Sally & Marks day finally came around and I was so excited to get going, we started with the boys who got ready at a nice new place nearby and then it was over to Kingsbrook Estate to meet Sally and the girls.
Everything went perfectly, the weather held out and the sun even came out for some time later on in the day which we were all so happy about. The Orangerie was beautifully set up for the reception and every little detail was taken care of. I can honestly say that I had such a wonderful day with Sally, Mark and their bridal party!
Sally and Mark, thank you for allowing me the honour of capturing your wedding day, it was such an amazing day and I’m so thankful I was able to play such an important part in it. I wish you both all the love and happiness in the world and an amazing future together.
Much love, Bree xo
